Ulule goal reached!

It has now been 1 month since the Ulule project and my website were created thanks to Pierre Lesmarie.

Thanks to your backup (93 backers including Ulule & flyer subscription), the project is going really nice and is guaranteed to be ended. The big news is that we reached the goal set on Ulule! But don’t hesitate to share this project until the end, as it is as much a way to support it as a way to preorder the album at a smaller price with some extras.

I want to thank each person who gave their participation for this adventure.

Peek of the week: The release concert will take place on Sunday 18th of October at 4:00 P.M at Rouvres-en-Plaine (which is at about 20 minutes from Dijon). Starring: Brass quartet, piano, vibraphone, and of course tenorhorn! More in the next newsletter!

No worry for those who at first weren’t expecting to come, the concert will actually take place during half-term break. And for those who won’t be actually able to come, be sure other concerts are planned for autumn.

In each newsletter, I want to talk about somebody who actively contributed to the project, and today we are going to talk about Luc Vertommen, guest conductor from Belgium of the Brass-Band Nord-Pas de Calais, with which I had the great opportunity to work for the 3-days-long recording session.

Dr. Luc Vertommen was born in Leest (Mechelen) where he first met wind music through the local orchestra/band.  He studied cornet, music theory and piano at Mechelen and Willebroek academies of music.  He also gained a triple diploma in trumpet, music history and band conducting at the Lemmens institute, Louvain, as well as obtaining a first prize of chamber music at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.

His love for brass and wind music made him a full-time musician as he became a brass teacher, player, arranger, and writer. He is also often invited throughout Europe as a conductor.

In 2012, he got a Doctorate of Musical Arts at the Salford University.

Luc is well known for his wide range of knowledge and expertise about brass repertoire.

Among many other competences, Luc Vertommen brought back historical music artworks to the public, along as creating the newest songs directly written by the newest generation of composers.

Luc is a champion of the “new brass music” and gave many world premieres, and has been on many international juries in major competitions.

As well as holding the position of conductor of Belgian Brass Band Buizingen and as guest conductor of the Brass Band Nord-pas-de-Calais,  he is also the Director of the Academy of Music and Drama in Deurne (Antwerp, Belgium).

Thanks again for your support, stay tuned for more news!
